My Favorite Podcasts At The Moment

It feels like 2019 is the year of podcasts. A podcast revolution, if you will. And lately I’ve had a good flow of podcasts that I listen to, from all different ends of the audio world. I listen to my music + podcasts on Spotify, so you can find me right here.

Let’s get on with my favorite podcasts at the moment!

Thick & Thin by Katy Bellotte

I love listening to podcasts that sound like you’re having a conversation with one person, and Katy really accomplishes that kind-of podcast in Thick and Thin. Honestly, I look forward to seeing her podcasts come up on my “new releases” section in Spotify. Her voice is just so easy to listen to, and I truly do learn a lot from her podcasts.

Katy’s analogies are also so amazing. It makes her podcast that much more relatable. Plus, she is making this podcast as her real-life diary,. so the issues she’s dealing with are the topics we get to listen to.

My favorite episode so far? Being too much. Seriously, give it a listen.

You can listen to Katy’s podcast on Anchor.fm, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, or anywhere that podcasts are available.

Stuff You Should Know by How Stuff Works

If you ever wanted to learn random trivia in a fun way - this podcast is for you. I feel like I learn so much stuff in this podcast, and it makes me wonder how I didn’t know these things before! Episodes like How Roundabouts Work and How Airbags Work may sound boring at the surface level, but Josh & Clark still find a way to make the topic interesting.

Usually each episode has a segment style to it, and it makes it super easy to listen to. I like listening to the episodes where there is a history lesson. Even the smallest of topics/subjects/objects have a small history lesson to it. How cool is that?

The Daily by The New York Times

Being an adult means being in the know - and being in the know means keeping yourself updated with current events and world news. Michael Barbarro directs the podcast in a way that is easily digestible & fun to listen to.

The Daily is basically a very well narrarated NYT article. It is truly hypnotizing how every story is so different in every episode, as society itself changes every day with the podcast. If you want to be kept up with current events and learn a thing or two about social issues, take some time out of your morning drive and listen to this newsworthy podcast.

Every Little Thing by Gimlet

Have you ever had a burning question in the middle of the night, and could never find an answer? Leave it to Flora at Every Little Thing to take your calls/emails/messages and get to the bottom of it.

Some of my favorite episodes are Baseball and Organ Music: How’d That Happen?, Auctioneers: Why Do They Talk Like That?and The Cha Cha Slide: How One Uncle Changed Weddings Forever. Each of these episodes taught me so many random facts that I love bringing up every once in a while.

Hannahlyze This by Hannah Hart & Hannah Gelb

I truly feel like I'm talking to my friends when I listen to this podcast. That goes to show that Hannah Hart & Hannah Gelb are great hosts of this podcast. If you like to laugh and be nerdy, this podcast is for you. I've watched Hannah Hart on YouTube for a couple years now, and I love her exuberant personality. Combine that with another Hannah (Gelb) and you got yourself a Hannah sandwich-of-awesomeness.

Hannahlyze This covers the uncomfortable topics that aren't shown in mainstream media, like friend jealousy, asking for help and how to apologize. I didn't realize how much I was missing from these topics that pop up in my daily life.

You can listen to the Hannahlyze This podcast on StitcherApple PodcastsSpotify or anywhere that podcasts are available.

Just Between Us by Gaby Dunn and Allison Raskin

If you watched BuzzFeed videos around 2016, you would recognize these two faces anywhere. Gaby Dunn and Allison Raskin click so well as work partners & friends, that they broke out from their YouTube show and pursued a podcast in the same name, a.k.a. Just Between Us

The title itself shows that this episode is for uncomfortable topics that should really stay just between us (I wonder why they named their podcast that...). The chemistry that these two share is so much fun to listen to. Just find an episode that intrigues you, and dive in to what this funny duo has to say.

You can listen to the Just Between Us podcast on iHeartRadioApple PodcastsSpotifyStitcher, or anywhere that podcasts are available.

Sex with Emily by Emily Morse

Listen - we are all adults here and know that sex is a part of being an adult (with consent, of course). And we also know that the public education system doesn't necessarily do a great job at educating the youth about sex. I remember when I received sex education in school, it basically scared the crap out of me and made me want to steer away from sex. But now that I am an adult, I want to learn more about things in a sensual manner. And what better podcast to listen to than Sex with Emily!

It's a podcast produced by Emily Morse, who is an author, Doctor of Human Sexuality, and host of the Sex with Emily podcast and Sirius XM radio show. She's basically known as a sex and relationship expert. Not only is she fun to listen to, but you learn so much about the human body and what it can do when you listen to the podcast.

You can listen to the Sex with Emily podcast on iHeartRadioApple PodcastsSpotifyStitcher, or anywhere that podcasts are available.
