How Journaling Can Better Your 2021
Welcome to the first blog post of 2021, everyone! It's crazy to believe that my first blog post was published on my engagement anniversary back in 2018. My first blog post was Anniversary Time, in case you're curious to read it. But this blog post is dedicated to you, my wonderful readers!
Journaling has helped me so much in the past few weeks I've been doing it, and I want to spread the journaling love with you all on my blog today. I am bringing my morning journaling habit into 2021 full force & I have already inspired one person in my life to start journaling themselves!
Keep reading this blog post for my prompts that I've used in the past, accounts I recommend following for journaling prompts, and ways to find journal prompts to fit your lifestyle.
How I do my Daily Journaling
For those of you that are curious about how I do my daily journaling, here is how I achieve journaling (mostly) every day.
Depending on my level of energy, I will either:
Write my prompts in my journal the night before
Look at the Instagram accounts (mentioned below) for prompt ideas
I will then make myself a cup of coffee, so that while it cools I can fill out the answers to my prompts
For the ambience, I try to either listen to a podcast I enjoy or listen to ambient music on YouTube
I recommend listening to the various Disney videos on the Ambient Worlds YouTube Channel
The entire time I am journaling, I want to make sure I am in a quiet space, where I can experience my morning journaling positively
Hopefully these tips help you with gauging how you want to accomplish your daily journaling. Many people also do journal in the evening, so it doesn't have to be just morning journaling!
Journal Prompts I've Used In The Past
Below, I am going to include a typed list of all the journal prompts I've used in the past, as well as pictures of the prompts themselves.
Intentions for the day
Positive affirmations
One tangible goal I can accomplish in the week ahead
One thing I love about myself
I am grateful for ________
What do you need more/less of?
Future goals/manifestation
How are you going to move today?
One thing you can do for yourself to show yourself love today
One thing you love about your personality
One thing you love about your body
What are 3 things you are grateful for?
What are you currently feeling? And why do you think you're feeling this way?
How are you feeling currently? Reflect on it
Mind dump - write it all out
Is there anything that's been heavy on your chest lately?
Accounts I Recommend Following for Journal Prompts
I actually started following different accounts for journaling on Instagram as a recommendation from Abby Asselin's YouTube Channel. I have been wanting to get back into journaling, and this tip was great for me to get my jump-start going.
Here are some accounts that I recommend following for journal prompts (with their respective accounts linked).
Ways to Find Journal Prompts to Fit Your Lifestyle
Feel like the accounts above don't have the journal prompts you are looking for?
No worries - that is what Pinterest is for you! Pinterest is a platform literally made to PIN your INTEREST (hence "Pinterest"). So if you look up "mindfulness journal prompts" or "anxiety journal prompts," there are bound to be at least 5 pins about the search term you use.
If you have access to a therapist or therapy, maybe request that they curate some journal prompts for you to do. I plan on doing this once I start my online therapy in a few weeks.
Affirmations I Recommend
Law of Attraction Affirmations (from @law.of.attraction1111 on Instagram)
I have the power to (co)create my reality
I believe, therefore I will receive
My desires are manifesting, even if they don't appear to be
My intuition is guiding me through the manifestation process
I believe that everything is working out for my highest good
My manifestations are closer than I think
So…how can all of this journaling better my 2021?
Journaling can better your 2021 by you having the skills in your personal toolbox to now take time to self-reflect and be mindful of the thoughts going on in your head. By taking the time to do something for yourself that can benefit you, you are bettering yourself - therefore bettering your 2021.
I’ve only started journaling like this since November 2020, but I truly do feel a difference in my life & my mood since journaling by using prompts that are appropriate for my current situation. I sincerely hope that you try journaling with prompts in one form or another, and please tag me on social media saying that you were #inspiredbydiane!
Do you think you'll start journaling, now that you've gotten some prompts & ideas to get you started?
